Divorce and Remarriage
Divorce is the separation and ending of a marriage by an official or legal process. The Bible clearly discourages this action as it goes against God. For marriage is a sacred and a lifelong union in the eyes of God, the Creator of humanity and of marriage itself. However, the Bible does portray two clear grounds for divorce: sexual immorality and abandonment by an unbeliever. Excluding the exceptions, why do we still continue to see broken marriages, separations, and children having to choose between their parents? A broken marriage is simply one without Christ at the center. Harbored anger and the inability to forgive tend to tear marriages apart, both being characteristics of one who does not know the love of God. A change in behavior must come through a change of heart, and that is the work of the Holy Spirit. We invite you to join us this Sunday as Pastor Brown leads us in looking into the danger of divorce using God’s word in Matthew 5:31-32!
