CloseThis Sunday we will continue our series with the final beatitude in Matthew 5:10: “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Many new Christians believe that all their challenges will dissipate once they allow Christ into their lives. That is simply untrue, and instead we continue to face battles against sin and temptations. As we stand as the ambassadors of Christ, set apart from the world, we will also be hated by the world. Persecuted for the truth. Despite these problems, rather than feeling discouraged, dismayed, enraged, or depressed, believers who find themselves persecuted for openly living for Christ and His kingdom have good reason to rejoice and be glad—for their reward in heaven is great.
